MUV
Co-creating more sustainable and healthy mobility
EU H2020 project
Partners: Push, Waag Society, ISMB, Bag!, Luca, I2cat, Fv-Helsinki, Fundao Municipality, AAU, Palermo Municipality, Imi BCN, City of Gent, Luxembourg Institute Of Science And Technology, Gemeente Amsterdam
Project Duration: 06/01/2017 → 06/01/2020
Role & Responsibilities: Co-Creation Methodology & Toolbox, Blueprinting for pilots execution, Scalability and Replicability
WHAT IS MUV?
An Horizon2020 innovation project to nudge citizens toward more sustainable and active mobility behaviours and, at the same time, decision-makers to co-design and plan people-(and not car)-oriented urban policies.
PILOT CITIES
How might we improve urban mobility through a bottom-up approach?
THROUGH CO-CREATION CYCLES
We structured the project into 3 different co-creation cycles
CO-CREATION CYCLE 1: Community Engagement. In this cycle, each pilot built a local community; they gained a better understanding of the local context and delivered mobility scenarios.
CO-CREATION CYCLE 2: Co-design the solutions with the local community. Different service solutions are co-designed with the local communities in each pilot.
CO-CREATION CYCLE 3: Scalability. This phase provides solutions that address systemic aspects, such as scalability strategies and elements that can be transfered and included in mobility policy recommendations, as well as insights about further technical solutions.
IMPLEMENTED SOLUTIONS
Through co-design workshops, MUV App is designed which gamifies the mobility experience. Citizens, neighbours, employees play different game dynamics, get rewarded by sponsors. Players raise awareness about sustainable mobility on social networks. Mobility and environmental data gathered via the mobile app and the monitoring stations, all released as Open Data, will allow policymakers to enhance planning processes and civic hackers to build new services able to improve cities’ quality of life in a more effective way.
MY ROLE & CONTRIBUTION
As a research partner, I have different roles in this long project.
CO-CREATION: Building the co-creation cycles framework for the project, providing a co-creation toolbox for the pilots, and evaluation the co-creation cycles and activities of the pilots
BLUEPRINTING: Introducing service blueprinting to the pilots, providing knowledge on the tool, mapping out different service scenarios
SCALABILITY & REPLICABILITY: Defining the elements for, replicability, vertical and horizontal scalability; building future scenarios how to scale/replicate the MUV project in different places
